FreePBX documentation URLs
If you start looking at the Asterisk configuration files created by FreePBX, located in /etc/asterisk for a default setup, you will see notices such as the following at the top of many of the files:
;--------------------------------------------------------------------------------; ; Do NOT edit this file as it is auto-generated by FreePBX. All modifications to ; ; this file must be done via the web gui. There are alternative files to make ; ; custom modifications, details at: http://freepbx.org/configuration_files ; ;--------------------------------------------------------------------------------;
That's all very well, and nice of the FreePBX people to tell you there's no point editing the file because it'll get replaced by their version next time you click on Apply Config in FreePBX.
However, it would be nice if the URL they provide - http://freepbx.org/configuration_files - actually went to a page which told you something you might want to know, rather than "Oops! That page can’t be found."
And, yes, this is on a fresh installation of FreePBX from the current CD image (I first discovered this in July 2017, and I've confirmed it's still the same with a later version February 2018).
Not just URLS...
Hm, looking through /etc/asterisk/extensions.conf I find:
; Customizations to this dialplan should be made in extensions_custom.conf ; See extensions_custom.conf.sample for an example.
It's something of a pity that there's no extensions_custom.conf.sample file…
