Sycamore X follows on from Sycamore 2.
However, it's at this point that you find out (or at least, I did) that Cyber Seed quadrilogy is not a quadrilogy.
It's a two-part story, and you've read it.
You discover that "Sycamore X" is ideally pronounced using Roman numerals, as "Sycamore ten", because it's actually a collection of 10 short stories.
They're not a continuation from Sycamore 2; in fact they take place during the timeframe of Sycamore and Sycamore 2, but they involve entirely different characters and occur in entirely different places.
Once you reach the end of the collection, you realise that in fact there were eleven stories…
Sycamore X is followed by Sycamore XL.
